Dr Gillyanne Kayes and Jeremy Fisher are singing consultant and vocal & performance coach respectively. They have been writing, presenting and teaching on singing voice together since 1997.

Their most recent bestselling book, This Is A Voice, was commissioned by the Wellcome Trust and is the first of its kind to include step-by-step exercises for classical singing, contemporary commercial singing (rock, pop, country, blues...), spoken voice, ventriloquism and beatboxing. The book's chapter on vocal anatomy and physiology is being used as a course resource in universities and performing arts schools around the world.

Gillyanne's first book, Singing and the Actor, is the bestselling vocal technique book written specifically for actors, dancers and singers of musical theatre. Now in second REVISED edition, it takes the reader step by step through the voice exercises and concepts that any good musical theater singer needs to survive in the professional world. It's required reading for leading musical theater programs worldwide.

Their first book together, Successful Singing Auditions, was based around Jeremy's experience of more than 8,500 auditions in London's West End theatres. The book shows you how to approach an audition, how to choose a portfolio of song repertoire, what makes YOU special, and what your job is in any audition.

The Singing Express series was written because so much of the song repertoire for schools relies on the children already being able to sing. The original authors, Ana Sanderson and Gillyanne, felt that this excluded many of the children and favoured only a few good singers. It was also important that the books were written in a way that the teacher did NOT have to be an expert singer to lead the class.

The series contains songs, chants, warmups, body energisers and techniques for finding notes, singing in harmony, and using your voice in many different ways.
Jeremy joined the team for books 3 and 4, and the number of different music styles increased to include Jazz, Disney, Pop, Blues, Rock, Calypso, Techno, various types of World Music and even a little Heavy Metal. Every song comes with a performance track or a backing track, from an orchestra to a jazz combo to a rock band, with everything in between. Singing with different instrument combinations helps the pupil move away from the "acoustic puzzle" of trying to match the school piano!

Almost all of the songs cover a range of less than a seventh (the maximum range that allows the entire class to join in), and the songs are transposable.
There is also information about the four stages of pitch matching (including the groaners) that all children and some adults go through to arrive at singing on pitch, in tune

The ethos behind the whole series is that ANYONE can sing, and shows both the teacher and the pupil how to find and improve their voice and singing.
